Situated south of the city of Phoenix, Ahwatukee Foothills combines outstanding views nestled into the Desert Mountains. Buckeye, the most western suburb of the Phoenix Metro area has been the largest growing city in the entire United States in three of the last seven years. Originally settled by Native Americans, the city gets its name from early Ohio settler, Malie M. Jackson who was from the Buckeye state. Today, Buckeye has become the west valley’s largest city in terms of total; area and has an exciting future.

Straddling the borders of Phoenix and Scottsdale, Carefree lives up to his name as one of the most relaxed yet upscale towns in the Phoenix valley. It is also the home of the third largest sundial in the western hemisphere! In the 1970’s Carefree became a popular destination for television and film production and actors like Dick Van Dyke, Paul Newman and Bob Hope have made TV shows and movies there.

Cave Creek was settled by horse backed soldiers from the nearby Fort McDowell in 1870 and quickly became a gold prospecting town on the discovery of gold in the nearby Bradshaw Mountains in 1873. Those days are still remembered every year in the Frontier Days Rodeo! With a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants, this small-town relishes its old west flavor.

Chandler is known not only for its beautiful communities but also major hubs for international companies like Intel, Northrop Grumman, Wells Fargo, Paypal and Boeing. Locals love the yearly Ostrich Festivals that goes back to the early 1900’s where Ostrich Farms provided plumes for ladies’ hats! The historic Williams Air Force Base is also located in this beautiful part of the east valley.

Fountain Hills, as you may have inferred from its name was once the home of the largest fountain in the world. The brainchild of C.V. Wood, an oil tycoon, the town was incorporated in the late 1980’s. Known as an outstanding area for stargazing, Fountain Hills is a designated International Dark Sky Community by the International Dark Sky Association!

With a large population of Mormons who moved there from the Mormon Colonies in Mexico in the early years of the 20th century, today, Gilbert, once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World” is a thriving family-oriented community in the southeast portion of the Phoenix valley. Although Gilbert is now suburbanized, it retains part of the country feel and in 2019 was named the twelfth most livable town in the US.

William John Murphy founded the city of Glendale, northwest of Phoenix in the late 1800’s. A bit of a transport tycoon he brought a canal and a road from he called Grand Avenue all the way to the capital city. Today, Glendale is best known as the home of Arizona Cardinals football team at the State Farm Stadium! Well served with local road links, Glendale is an important part of the commuter hub.

Goodyear, named by its founders, the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company was established in 1917 and played an important role in WW2, with rubber production and the local United States Army Air Forces built a base there, the forerunner of still established Luke AFB. It was also briefly the home of Trotting Racing in the mid 1960’s. Today Amazon and UPS are among the main employers.

19 miles west of Phoenix, lies Litchfield Park. 1965 PGA Championship winner, Dave Marr, called it home in the 1960’s and like nearby Goodyear it is connected to the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company having been named after its founder and Goodyear executive, Paul Weeks Litchfield. A small town surrounded by beautiful desert; Litchfield Park is one of the most laid back places in Arizona!

Mesa is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Home to a diverse and inclusive population, Mesa has the best of urban and suburban neighborhoods with easy access by road to the entire valley! Stretching out east along the US-60 corridor, Mesa has something for everyone and is a great place to raise a family.

Paradise Valley located east of Phoenix is renowned for its very high-end golf courses, exclusive brand shopping and very expensive real estate. Paradise Valley is phoenix’s wealthiest suburb. As the residents say: “There is a reason it is called Paradise!”

Peoria is the sixth largest city in the state of Arizona and straddles both Maricopa and Yavapai counties. Its population has increased more than 25% in the last fifteen years. Although the town grew substantially in the post WW2 era the future is being titled “Desert Empire” as the city tried to attract greater commerce along the 303 Corridor.

Phoenix is the state capital of Arizona and one of the six fastest growing cities in the United States of America. An iconic city famous for golf, motor racing and beautiful deserts and mountains. With art galleries, museums, an award-winning zoo, and the historic state capitol building, Phoenix is where the heart is!

Known as one of the best kept secrets in Arizona, Queen Creek straddles both Maricopa and Pinal Counties and is located in the far southeast corner of the Phoenix metro area. Queen Creek has grown massively in recent years and traces its founding to the early years of the 20th century. For a time in the mid 1980’s an active Mormon community helped to build up its infrastructure to form the basis of what is now a thriving and diverse community.

Scottsdale, home of the worlds most attended golf tournament the Waste Management Phoenix Open is an upscale community north and north-east of Phoenix in the heart of the Sonoran desert. Known for its expensive real estate and beautiful mansion style houses, Scottsdale is also the fashion capital and luxury shopping HQ of Arizona.

Sun City and Sun Lakes are retirement communities west of Phoenix. With excellent medical facilities, dozens of golf courses and golf carts allowed on many city streets it is an oasis for seniors from across the world. Surprise, located 20-30 miles northwest of Phoenix is one of the fastest growing areas in the Phoenix valley. Incorporated just over sixty years ago it hosts spring training for the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers as well as a USTA Pro Tennis event and was home of the inaugural National Pickleball Championships.

Tempe is home of the ever-expanding Arizona State University, its skyline already resembles that of many big cities as multiple corporations in recent times have made it their home off University Drive and in front of the world famous Tempe Town Lake. Tempe also held Superbowl XXX and is the home of spring training for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
